20 Months

Hudson turned 20 months old on August 27th.  Can't believe we are getting so close to 2!   Hudson continues to make us laugh everyday with his funny personality.  We are having to be more careful because he is repeating everything  we say.  He is much more opinionated about what he wants and is using his new found words to tell us.  He likes to request what he wants to eat for meals and snacks and has also decided that he needs to pick what color cup he drinks from.  He prefers to drink out of cups without tops or with a straw and this has resulted in a lot more messes to clean up.  Luckily, Hudson also enjoys cleaning up "messes".  He is what we have been up to this week:

We made a few trips to Lowes and Hudson enjoyed the "blue car" cart.   He liked going fast down the aisles and yelling "beep beep"

One of Hudson's favorite toys is a broom handle.  We have to take it outside every time we go out. Sometimes he likes the broom attached but really enjoys pretending that the stick is a vacuum, guitar, or walking stick.  He also enjoys chasing Angel and Wyatt around with his stick.

He also likes to wear his new craft when he goes outside.  They are learning about butterflies at school this month and they made a little butterfly necklace.  He was pretty proud of it.

Those curls are out of control again.

We tried to get out on the playground early on my day off this Thursday.  It was still way too hot to stay out long.

Wonder what he was thinking when he gave me this look?

 Pouring dirt on his head.

He is eating much better with his spoon and fork and seems to use his right hand as much as his left.

He looks like such a big boy when he lays down like this to draw or color.

I was brave and took Hudson to the kids museum on Sunday by myself.  We had fun and both needed a nap when we got home.

He loves dinosaurs these days.  One of his favorite books that we read at night is about dinosaurs go to bed.

 Driving the ambulance

He has a love/hate relationship with the sirens.

Playing in the vet area and loving on the injured dogs.  Taking after his mommy.

When we got into the kitchen area he announced that he wanted to cook eggs.  He was a little confused   that he could touch the stove and kept asking me if it was hot.  Guess I have drilled it in pretty good that  he can't be near the stove when I am cooking.

 Carrying all of his eggs

Making his audiology mommy proud.  He loved the toy otoscope but not sure I would recommend putting it in water. :)

This video is a few weeks old.  We have seen a rabbit on the little walking trail a few times and now whenever we are walking he says "shhhh" because we told him that you have to be quiet to see the animals.  He does pretty well with the "shhh" part but then says "Hop, Hop!" really loud when we are looking for the rabbit.  Not a skilled hunter yet.

Just Hudson being silly before bed listening to one of his favorite Parmalee songs.  I fear that we might have a head banger on our hands.

Update on baby brother:  I am 35 weeks and at my last check-up the midwife said that she thought he had turned and is head down now.  I have already gained as much weight as I did when I had Hudson so I have a feeling this baby might be a little bigger than Hudson was.  Continuing to say my prayers for a easy delivery and a healthy baby in about a month!

Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

Finally got my pictures to upload again!  Not that I seem to have time to take pictures lately anyway.  I am up to 34 weeks and as I get bigger my ability to run after Hudson with a camera has diminished.  He is still quite clumsy when running but he loves to run so when we are outside I usually try to keep up with him to keep him from scabbing up his knees and elbows even more than they already are.  Yesterday afternoon he face planted into the sidewalk trying to run to me when I got home from work and now has a scabby nose.  You know it is bad when he asks for "medicine" when we are putting on his pajamas at night because he is so used to me putting neosporin on his cuts at night.

A few milestones have happened since the last time I posted:  1) Hudson had his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich!  If you know us, you know we both love peanut butter so I have been a little worried about what we would do if Hudson had a peanut allergy.  Although Hudson loves to eat he is still somewhat picky and tends to want the same things over and over.  I was hoping that a new lunch item could be added if he could eat a PB&J.  Well it was a hit and so far we haven't had any reaction to the peanut butter. 2) Hudson is using the potty at least once per day with success.  We usually try it around bath time when he already has his diaper off.   I am thinking that this may quickly fade once baby brother gets here and wears diapers but I guess it is a start.  3) Hudson (at 19 months old) is officially getting to sleep on his own. (praise the lord).  I still sit and read stories to him at night and then we say a little prayer and sing a song or two that he requests.  He now says, "Bed" when we are finished and I lay him in his crib and say "night night, I love you!" He says the same thing back and I walk out of the room.  He might give a little whine but quickly stops and lays down and goes to sleep.  He sleeps through the night and will even lay in the crib in the mornings and just chill until I come get him! I am thinking this may also regress when baby brother gets here but I really thought he would never do it so I am enjoying this time.

Cohen, Melody, and Jeff came to visit us on Friday night on their way to the beach.  We had a great time even though it was a short visit. I like that we are half way between them and the beach because it gives us another reason to see each other.   Two times in a month is a record for sure!

Here is me at 31 weeks.  Will try to get a recent pic soon.  As of my 32 week appointment the midwife told me that baby boy was not head down yet.  She said they would wait a few more weeks and then possibly do an ultrasound if he still isn't turned when I go in on Friday.

 Hudson's first PB&J sandwich

He is getting better about taking small bites but prefers to stuff a fist full of food into his mouth all at once.  Seems to take after Zach on that one.

Again, it was near impossible to get the two boys to be still long enough to take a picture of them together.  I think Melody may have gotten a few more that I can share later.

Zach was the "slide man" during our park visit.

As Cohen would say, Zach is "too big" for the tunnel slide. :)

4 Years

Friday was our 4th wedding anniversary (yay!)  It was a stressful Friday at work and I was exhausted when I got home.  My day was turned around when the door opened and Hudson walked in carrying a bouquet of flowers grinning from ear to ear.  It was so cute to see how excited he was to give me the flowers.  Zach had pumped him up for it when they picked them out and on the way home and tried to get him to say "Happy Anniversary" but instead he just said "Mommy!!" and gave me a big hug.  Good enough for me!  Love my boys!

My computer and blog is still being difficult uploading pictures and I don't have much time to work on it at the moment.  Hopefully I will have new pictures to share soon.

31 weeks

Well I am 31 weeks and baby boy (whose name has not been decided) is making me work really hard in this heat to carry him around.  He has been very active lately and is acting as if he wants to come out already.  I told him that he needs to settle down and give it another month at least.  I am pretty sure I have had some contractions lately so I have been trying to rest as much as I can when Hudson goes to bed.  Since I had to be induced and had back labor with Hudson, I am not sure that I know what normal contractions are supposed to feel like but I guessing these are just on a small scale.

We had another Hot weekend here in Chapel Hill!  We tried to play outside early but still broke a sweat at 9 am outside.  Hudson even said "Hot Sun" when he insisted on going out in the afternoon and left his "Mow Mow" outside so that he could come back into the air conditioned house.  That was a first.  He has been talking up a storm lately and putting more phrases together.  It is funny to hear some of what he is thinking.  A lot of his sentences are too long to understand but I usually can get the first few and last words.  He is also very fond of the word "No" and says it a lot when I try to help him do things.  He says, "No no, Hudson (insert whatever he is trying to do at the time)".  Which is his way of telling me that he can do it.  A few other things he is saying lately, "I luv you", "I sorry", "I do", "Hudson do". I think someone is expressing his independence. He says, "O.K." after many of the things he says which I know he gets from me saying it to him all of the time. He is getting much better at differentiating between red, yellow, blue, green, and purple.  And if he is in the mood will count to 10 without help.  I had a few pictures of the baby bump to show at 31 weeks but the google blog just told me that I was at my limit of pictures/space and cut out some of the pictures that I tried to upload.  Too tired to figure that problem out tonight but hopefully I can post them soon.

Got tired of walking in the heat so he convinced Dada to carry him.

Enjoying his favorite smoothie "moothie" for snack

I can't force myself into a bathing suit at the moment so Hudson's pool time consists of a wading pool in the back yard. :)

These next few pictures aren't the greatest quality because my sister took a picture of older pictures with her phone but it is pretty funny how much she and Hudson look alike.  I think those chunky cheeks help.

I just had to share this awesome picture of the fro' that I had most of my child hood.  This is why I never learned how to do anything with my hair.  Just combing all those curls after a bath was hard enough.

The top is Hudson at 19 months and the bottom is Zach at 1 and-a-half.  A little more chunk on Hudson but that face and nose is so Zach! Love it.
