8 Months!

Hudson turned 8 months old today! We were hoping that Hudson's Nana was going to be here this weekend to help us celebrate but sadly hurricane Irene caused all sorts of problems and it was too dangerous to be flying into NC this weekend.  We had lots of rain and wind throughout the night in Chapel Hill.  Not long after we woke up this morning the power went out.   Lucky for us Grandma's house is only and hour away so we decided to go there for the night.  So in one week Hudson has experienced a hurricane and an earthquake in NC!

He gets good reports everyday at daycare but has had a cold for over a week now. :(  It is still the hardest thing to leave him every day. They said that he is a happy baby.  He still won't nap for more than about 45 min a day there but hopefully he will get used to sleeping with things going on around him.  He really seems to want to crawl but can't get his legs to cooperate.  He can scoot himself backwards across the floor and then gets frustrated that it gets him further away from the toy instead of closer.  He still loves Mickey Mouse clubhouse, he loves to try to turn around backwards in the car seat to smile at whoever is driving, and he thinks it is funny/scary when we go down the steps in the new apartment.  He grabs onto me like he is scared that we are going to fall and then laughs.  His favorite toys at the moment are a random blue ball with holes in it,  his glow worm, his stacking rings, and an entertainment board that sings songs that I got on sale at salvation army for $1.25!  He is getting better at feeding himself puffs but will only do it if I walk away from the highchair.  He is smart and knows that I will feed it to him if I am standing there if he whines enough.  Apparently he does it all of the time at daycare.  I will have to weigh him later this week to see how much he has grown since last month.

 8 months old..can't believe it

 Two bottom teeth!

So jealous of his long eye lashes.

 Hudson and his daddy

My mom had an idea to use this picture frame for a prop but I didn't have the right lens or skills to make it work today.  Still cute that we got him tumbling over. :)

Toes are way better than teething rings.

 Daddy entertaining with toys.

 His model pose.

He pulled himself up to a standing position today all on his own!

The face plant is where he gets frustrated with the crawling practice.

Scooting backwards off of the blanket.

Irene's winds blowing his little "old man comb over"

Zach usually takes care of Hudson in the morning while I get in the shower for work.  Well, i guess they got tired of playing drums on the pots and reading so they took a little morning nap before daycare. :) By Friday Hudson is pretty tired since he doesn't sleep at daycare.  We actually had to wake him up to take him to daycare on this day.  It makes it even harder for me to leave for work knowing he is sleepy because I just want to stay home and cuddle with him.

It's been a long week...

I have never been so happy to see a Friday.   I have missed Hudson so so much and can't wait to spend the weekend with him.  It is so hard to leave every morning.  Work has been busy so at least I haven't had too much down time to be sad.  This week has been crazy.  Zach and I are trying to figure out our new work/life schedules, we have had no time to unpack so our apartment is a wreck, half of the things in our new place aren't working properly, Hudson and Zach both already have a cold so no one is sleeping much and in our down time Zach and I "celebrated" our 3 year anniversary on Wednesday by eating pizza and ice cream at 10:00 at night. haha :)  Although this may sound like complaining, I am really not.  Being back in a hospital everyday where I see sick babies and kids that are attached to all sorts of equipment and IVs because they are fighting some horrible disease when they should be outside playing makes me remember that we are so lucky and I have nothing to complain about.

Here are some pictures of my chunky baby this week:
 Check out my new curl

He now has two bottom teeth coming through so he is usually chewing on his bottom lip.  Or maybe he just has the same concentration face as his momma :)

"Daycare wears me out!"

This is how he comes home everyday after daycare.  Today we didn't even get out of the parking lot before he was asleep.

First Day of Daycare

Well we made it through the first day.... .and through moving but I am too tired to write about that.

Since today was his first day, Zach took the day off work. I didn't think it would be too professional of me to ask for a day off on my second week of work.  Zach took him in around 9 am and hung out with him and played for a little while.  He said that Hudson was very interested in everything and was pretty quiet and just took it all in.   Zach left around 10:30 while Hudson was drinking some milk.  He had planned to go back in an hour or so to check on him but when he called the teacher she said that he was doing great so he decided to wait a little longer. Even though Zach was giving me the play by play of the day I couldn't help but call the teacher in between my patients.  She let me know that Hudson had a good lunch and was feeding himself puffs.  I could not believe it when she told me that because I have been trying to get that little stinker to put his own puff in his mouth for weeks now!  I guess he realized that Mom wasn't around to help so he figured it out.  I will be interested to see what he does when I try to get him to do it next.

My sister (the talented/amazing child care worker that she is) was nice enough to drive to Chapel Hill today to come check out his daycare and meet the teachers.  Hopefully when she is off work and not busy she can come pick him up and hang out with him once a week or so.  Zach and Rebecca went to the daycare around 3.  They said his face lit up and he just gave a big smile when he saw them. :) They played for a little while and then got ready to take him home.  As soon as Zach picked him up to go poor Hudson fell asleep pretty much sitting up.  It was a long day.  Below is his report for the day.  If you look closely you will see that the "Naptime" spaces are blank.  Yes, that means he did not nap the entire day.  He has been used to napping in a quiet/dark room or napping with someone for the last 7 months so this will be an adjustment.

"It has been a long day Daddy"

Here are a few pics of Hudson catching up on the parenting magazine news. ;)

New Swing

I found an awesome swing and slide for a deal on craigslist a few weeks ago but it has been so hot that Hudson hasn't gotten to swing on it much yet.  There was a little breeze this evening so after I got home from work we got to spend a little time outside blowing bubbles and swinging.  Hudson is having a great time with Grandma this week.  And the big news this week is that we can see a little tooth poking through the gums!  It is really sharp and all he wants to do is chew on his hand or suck on his paci.  I am going to be a little sad to see that gummy smile go.

I will preface the next pictures by saying that he is a little dramatic and impatient so he was not super happy about us stopping the swinging to try to get a picture of his tooth poking through.  I enlarged the pictures but it is still kind of hard to see.  Still exciting to me!

 "Seriously Grandma!"

 "I just want to swing!"

Not sure about the bubbles in the face

 Now for a little laugh....
My sister and I walked in on this scene the other night after dinner.  Hudson was squealing and laughing and Zach was snoring.  :)
